A mission trip to Kenya combines community development, support for domestic abused women, and a safari experience offers a unique blend of meaningful service and cultural exploration. This type of trip allows volunteers to contribute to the local community while also gaining an appreciation for Kenya’s stunning landscapes and wildlife.

Our mission trips involve community development and helping domestic abused women and their children. We focus on impactful community initiatives and supporting women who have suffered from domestic abuse. Key activities include:

  • Vocational Skills: Volunteers can teach  practical skills that enable women to earn an income such as :
  1. Tailoring and Dressmaking: Highly marketable in local markets and useful for setting up small businesses.
  2. Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy: Popular and accessible, especially in urban and peri-urban areas.
  3. Catering and Baking: For running a home-based catering business.
  4. Handicrafts and Beadwork: Valuable in rural areas with tourist interest (e.g., Maasai beadwork).
  5. Agribusiness Skills: Kitchen gardening, poultry farming, or mushroom farming — relevant in both rural and urban settings.
  6. Entrepreneurial and Financial Skills: Empower women to manage and grow their resources:
  7. Basic Business Management: Budgeting, inventory, customer service, and record-keeping.

  12. Language and Literacy TrainingBasic English and Swahili literacy classes:
  • Support for Abused Women: Domestic abuse is a critical issue in Kenya, and mission trips often focus on helping survivors. Volunteers may support shelters that offer safety and care to women escaping violence. Additionally, counseling services, legal aid, and empowerment programs are often part of the mission, helping women rebuild their lives through emotional support, legal representation, and economic independence.
  • Educational Workshops and Awareness: This includes conducting workshops that raise awareness about women’s rights, domestic violence prevention, and available support services. These efforts aim to strengthen the community’s understanding of the issue and create an environment where survivors feel safe and supported.

Safari Experience:

In addition to meaningful community service, we incorporate a safari as part of the itinerary. This offers a chance to explore Kenya’s renowned natural beauty and rich wildlife. Volunteers can experience:

  • Game Drives: Visiting national parks like Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Aberdare, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Mt. Kenya, Laikipia, Meru, or Tsavo, where they can see Africa’s iconic wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, and zebras, in their natural habitats.
  • Cultural Exchange: A safari is also an opportunity to engage with local people especially the Maasai communities, learning about their traditions, lifestyle, and ways of life.
  • Conservation Awareness: Safari provides volunteers the opportunity to explore and learn about the conservation efforts, learn about wildlife preservation, anti-poaching initiatives, and the importance of protecting endangered species.

We believe this healthy combination of community development, support for domestic abuse survivors, and a safari adventure provides volunteers with an enriching experience that blends impactful service with the opportunity to connect with Kenya’s vibrant culture and stunning wildlife. It’s an unforgettable way to make a difference while exploring one of Africa’s most beautiful and diverse countries.
